This was another spot we stumbled upon during our Eastern adventures.
Welcome to Silvan Reservoir Park.
The view of the reservoir was just breathtaking.
I know, every picture like this looks the same. A whole lot of green. But I love it.
These ants were huge. Well, not humongous but definitely larger than the common Malaysian ant.
Isn't this sight postcard material?
The picnic spots at this park is awesome. Can't wait to come back for a picnic or a barbie.
Spotted a monkey in the forest.
The series of photos next were exactly how I saw it in real life.
First, I saw this sign that wasn't unusual at park exits.
Then, as I approached the exit gate, I saw this on the ground! This looks like one of those spike strips they use in the movies to puncture your tyres and as you are in distress, robbers jump out to rob you. So I made a u-turn and drove the other way.
Then this sign appeared! I thought to myself, hey, if I'm driving the wrong way towards the entrance, there may well be another spike strip there. So I made a u-turn again and headed to the exit gate before. I got out of the car and stepped onto the strip and it turns out, the spikes will depress when you drive over it, from the right direction. Phew!
Before we left, we took a picture of those short trees, assuming that they were newly planted so that when we come back next time, we can see how much they have grown.

I just got home from mixing The Violet Flames at The Espy in St. Kilda. The Violet Flames were freakin awesome and the crowd was amazing. They're only a 3 piece band but don't let that fool you because they sound HUGE! I had such a great time mixing the boys.
On a side note, St. Kilda was windy tonight but thank God it wasn't freezing. It was the calming kind of windy beach weather, the kind that you'd want to take a slow stroll by the shoreline and listen to the water crash into the sand and rocks. There was something about the St. Kilda air that made it romantic. I wish the weather stays this way so we don't freeze out butts off when the wife and I go see The Cat Empire soon.
On a completely random note, in my quest to find a healthier snack, I bought those low fat crackers from Safeway the other day and guess what, it is absolutely tasteless or rather, it tastes like cardboard and it's so hard that it cuts your mouth! So, goodbye low fat crackers. Moving right along to the next snack please.

Maton Guitar Factory Tour

Jeremy and I went to the Maton Factory out in Blackburn to meet the maker of Jeremy's custom made Maton acoustic. For you acoustic guitar enthusiasts out there, here's a glimpse of the factory in pictures.

Jeremy's guitar maker. His name is Andy (if I'm not mistaken). He runs the Maton Custom Shop and he builds guitars from the start till the end.

After this experience, I realise that there's a lot of work put into making acoustic guitars. A bulk of the process is still done by hand. Also, I now know that the acoustic guitar is not as delicate as I thought it was. If something breaks, it can be fixed. It may not be easy as the whole guitar needs to be taken apart, but it can be done. All you need is the right tools and skill.

The Getaway Plan - Sleep Spindle
This was meant to be my follow up to the previous post. Looks like it took me longer than I thought for an update. The lack of sleep caught up with me so I am sure you would have guessed what happened to me by now. I crashed.
So here's a video from the Getaway Plan in-store session. This was at the Bourke Street store. The turn out was massive! The staff didn't see it coming for sure! It was hilarious because when I walked around the store I could hear people go, "is it the school holidays or something?". School's out my friend! Make room for The Getaway Plan.

Tall, Taller, Tallest?
Jams and Ally would have a much better coverage of our day out. You girls shall have the honour of displaying all the awesome pictures we took and detailing what we did.
It was pretty much visit Melbourne CBD day. Here's pretty much what we did.
1. The girls had Ox tongue with rice for lunch at Melbourne Central. I opted for the usual Ten Don, to be on the safe side. I tried Jia Meei's ox tongue though and it was pretty good. I guess it's all in the mind huh?
2. Took pictures at the "big purse" on Bourke Street. Very touristy indeed! It was a first for all three of us.
3. Up next was the compulsory Federation Square. Took a walk down to the river side and took more pictures.
4. Our last stop was at KoKo Black. The Belgian Spoil was awesome! Thanks Ally! Good call!
After reading your blogs, I realised my post will be rendered totally useless. Haha. So I shall end it here and say that it was an awesome day out with you two. We've gotta go to the zoo next!

Carl Riseley Live @ Bennetts Lane

Watching Carl live was surreal. I mean, I watched him on TV twice a week during Idol and he's become sort of part of my life. It's awesome!
The gig was sold out too and not only did I get to meet one star today, I got to meet two! The other dude was John Foreman, the legendary Australian composer/arranger/producer! He got up on stage to played the piano on two songs with the band. It was brilliant! Will upload the videos soon.

These guys happen to be one of my favourite bands and the best part is that I get the privilege to mix them and play a little part in their shows, giving them good monitor and Front Of House mixes. Great dudes to hang out with too.
The mix in the video wasn't me though. I have yet to record a show of theirs with me on the mix. It's coming soon.
