Swirling

I swear my life is swirling out of control. After all this madness ends, I promise to take a three week break at least, to just do nothing but listen to music. How can a muso not listen to music right? And what kinda muso spends all his time writing a thesis and filling up admin forms anyway? It's just unacceptable.

The Lydia Update

I'm gonna attempt this blog post, Lydia's style. So here goes.

1. Wednesday. Thesis presentation @ SAE. This was the second last hurdle I have to get past to complete my honours degree. One step closer to completion! It's funny how the three members of assessment panel loved my presentation. I felt that I crapped my way through because by the end of the presentation, I couldn't even remember what I had just said. Oh well, it's over now.

2. Thursday. Went to see Delirious. It was a pretty long concert and the set list was a little odd for my taste as it went up and down in dynamics. The singer had a very unique tone in his voice though and his British accent is so cool when he speaks. The cool thing about this band is that they are striving to fix macro problems, quite similar to what U2 is doing.

3. Friday. Anzac Day trip to Yarra Valley. Went with a bunch of friends from church and it was a blast. Yarra Valley is where most of the wineries are located. We stopped at a few and had out little wine tasting adventure. I bought half a dozen bottles of Moscato at Rochford! I was a happy camper.

4. Saturday. Mini golf and Miss Marples. On the way home from Yarra Valley, we stopped by the Dandenongs and Sasafras. Played a round of adventure golf. It turned out that we won two free rounds as the mystery score prize! Woot! Then it was a very late lunch at Miss Marples. The trip was awesome. Pictures from the trip to come soon! I took more than 600 pictures, it's insane to sort out.

5. Sunday. Shooting Star, Number One. Found out that Shooting Star is on Fly FM's Campur Chart at the number one spot for six weeks in a row now. Thank you all so much for keeping up with the votes.

6. Youth Alive. I've also been asked to play electric guitar for Youth Alive's City Rally at Richmond AOG on Friday, May 2. Doors @ 7. $5 entry. It's time to put Emily into action again. The band is made up of musicians from different churches including Richmond and Planetshakers. It's surreal to be playing with such great musicians. God has His way of installing surprises in my life.

7. Broken Scar Live @ Richmond. I'll also be playing a 30 min set at Richmond AOG on May 7. More details on that real soon.

Officially Pissed

I am officially pissed off! I filled out an official Malaysian government form for an application and it was rejected because apparently they have recently revamped and updated the form and mine was the old one. Fair enough, but don't revamps and updates mean that there is an improvement of the previous version?

So here I am, filling out the "updated" form and here's what I found! A bloody ERROR in an OFFICIAL government form!!!!! Can they be any more inefficient????

I mean yeah, we make typos here and there when we blog and all, but heck, that's blogging, it ain't official!

That's not all, I've got to get this form verified by an Australian who doesn't read BM and can only read English. He will definitely spot this! What is he going to say? If I am lucky, he'd laugh it off and verify it anyway. If I am not, he'll bloody well just say that the form is invalid! How can official forms have errors like that? I mean, how many mothers can a person have huh?????? Yeah, we can argue that a person can have step mothers, but come on, who are we kidding?? Obviously the form is asking for your birth mother's name!!!!! Get it right people! Man, I've never been so worked up before.

To add to it all, they didn't even provide enough boxes to fill in my details. To my understanding, you shouldn't write anything outside the boxes in official forms. Everything needs to be written in caps, with a black pen and there shouldn't be any abbreviations.

As it is, I already hate filling out forms. I'd be fine with the whole "error in the form" issue if they had not given me so much trouble in the first place. But now that it might be a potential problem that will lead to another rejection as well as money, resources and time being utterly wasted, I've become psycho drama queen!

Malaysia Boleh indeed! One more reason to love the country!

Signed In Blood

Everything was leading up to yesterday. It was the moment of truth. It was something I had to do because I would have avoided it for as long as I could like I have been all this while. No more running because time has finally caught up. The fear was thick, I could taste it but it was time to get pass that.

I held my breath, I looked away and I held out my arm. I closed my eyes and the moment was suspended in time. When I opened my eyes, it was all over. It was done. It wasn't the pain that caused the fear, it was the sight of the red that fuels the human body that scared the life out of me. I can exhale now, for it is done.

Pardon the drama, but yesterday was the first time I have ever done a blood test. It was part of the medical check up I had to complete. It went surprisingly well and I thank God that I was able to go through with it.

The Novelty

Yesterday was day one of juicing heaven! A Breville Juice Fountain found it's home in my little apartment and it's armed with 1250 watts of juicing power! Yes, I know I sound more domesticated each day, but heck, it's a childhood dream come true. This juicer is so freaking powerful, the fruit disappears before you could even press it down to the blades! I've never had such fresh fruit juice before. Maybe I should just stick my mouth in the juicer output next time! But hey, everything has a novelty period and it'll diminish. So this is my post to remind me of the day I was excited about it. For the past two days, all I've thought about was, "what can I possibly juice today?" So here's a post to the first few days of raving over a juicer and actually enjoying the cleaning up still.

On a more rocker side of things, here's what I did to cure my blues. Like ladies, we men love shopping too, but for different things! Woot! The pictures say it all! No explanation needed!

Boys and toys. Boys will be boys. Alda said, "That's the life of a muso. All the crazy things that we buy". I was a happy boy! All 4 DVDs for 50 bucks. I love JB Hi Fi. Now where's my endorsement money?!

Painting A Timeline

Have you ever wondered whether your life turned out how you wanted it to be? What did you write in the ambition section in your year book each year? Looking back, as a kid, I've always wanted to be an artist. I really wanted to paint. I painted a lot and I was happy doing that, but that's a long time ago. I haven't painted a thing since 1998.

Along the way, I changed my mind and aimlessly said I wanted to be an architect. That was a lie. I only put that down in the books because I thought that as I grew older, it will be silly wanting to be an artist. I was afraid that people will laugh at me. Every time I was faced with writing down my ambitions, I think I didn't really think that hard and I just thought I'd jot down what I felt I could be at that moment in time.

Today, I am not an architect. I've become an audio engineer and musician. I guess I've always been attracted to art and although I never became a painter, I get to express things through the art of music. As a kid, I never would have thought I'd be here today, doing what I do and I am thankful for every moment of it. Sometimes it's hard to imagine what got me here to this point in the first place.

What I'm really trying to say is, I wanna rock out and just keep playing music, as shallow as it sounds.

Later

The past week has been absolutely amazing! It's been so eventful I could hardly remember everything but all I know that it was heaps of crazy fun. Alda was in Melbourne for about a week and he had just left to fly off to Sydney. I wish I could have hosted Alda at my place though and spend more time just catching up. But all circumstances aside, it was still a blast!

Alda and I went busking near the Queen Victoria Market on Saturday afternoon, joined by Bennie which was a great experience. Looks like there's gonna be more to come int he future.

I can't even think anymore. I thought I had a good blog post before I actually logged on, but I guess I got nothing on me at the moment. Cheers bro, have a safe flight!

Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire

Alda and I watching the fire at Crown. That'll be one heck of a birthday candle to blow out. Am I getting cornier by the day or what? Blame it on the old age.

This picture is just surreal. I mean, it's Alda and Kev from Broken Scar, in Melbourne. If Alda stayed for good, all we need to do is find a drummer and we could start up the band right here in Melbourne. So Alda, what say you?

It was an awesome 25th and I had such a great time.

Quarter Century!

I've never really been too comfortable broadcasting my birthday to everyone and I've not done that in all my years but somehow I just felt like it this time round. It's always good to have a change in routine and how things are supposedly meant to go. I wish I had felt this earlier, so you guys could have time in advance to go buy me presents. haha.

So yes, today I turn twenty five and it feels great! Regardless of what people say, you don't really need to "grow up" and do grown up things just because each year the number changes. It's just a number. The parties won't stop as long as my body could still take it. So I say, BRING IT ON!

Script

I think I am officially a One Tree Hill fan boy. I just did a Google search on a specific line in the script of one of the episodes! haha. I can't help it, the scriptwriters are awesome, they write great lines without them sounding cheesy.

Plus, I really like how Lucas starts off with a voice over and ends with one too, in Season 4 that is. Hats off to the scriptwriters!
